Certified Czech Translation of Malaysian Documents

Short answer: Czech authorities want an official translation into Czech (úřední překlad) by a court translator (soudní překladatel) on the Czech Ministry of Justice's register. A Czech translation made in Malaysia can be authenticated by the Czech Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, which has authenticated Czech translations we prepared. Untranslated documents are treated "as if they had not been submitted". Czech universities recognising a degree accept documents in English without translation.

What we do: certified English translations of Malay documents, which the Czech Embassy needs for Malay documents and which Czech universities accept, plus the Wisma Putra and embassy steps. Send your document on WhatsApp and we will tell you which translation each authority needs.

Last reviewed: October 2026. For superlegalisation, see legalising Malaysian documents for the Czech Republic.

Who may translate

  • A Czech court translator. Under Act No. 354/2019 Sb., only a court translator (soudní překladatel) on the Ministry of Justice's list makes official translations. A paper translation carries the translator's handwritten signature and seal.

  • Translations made in Malaysia: the Czech Embassy in Kuala Lumpur verifies and authenticates Czech translations made in Malaysia, for a fee per page (600 CZK on the embassy's page). It has authenticated Czech translations we prepared.

Which authorities need what

  • Ministry of the Interior (residence permits and long-term visas): documents not in Czech "musí být úředně přeloženy do češtiny" (must be officially translated into Czech).

  • Registry offices, including the special registry in Brno for marriages abroad: Malaysian documents must be superlegalised and come with a certified Czech translation.

  • Universities (recognition of degrees): a translation is needed only if the documents are not in Czech, Slovak or English. The administrative fee is 3,000 CZK.

Translate before or after superlegalisation?

After. Superlegalise the original first, then have it translated, so the translation also covers the Wisma Putra and embassy stamps.

Documents in Malay

Czech consular officers "may only authenticate documents in languages, which they command." Documents in other languages "must be accompanied by a translation into English, which will be authenticated." That English translation comes from a translator Wisma Putra accepts; see who can certify a translation in Malaysia.

Common questions

Can a Malaysian translator translate into Czech for my residence permit?

Yes. The Czech Embassy in Kuala Lumpur authenticates Czech translations made in Malaysia, and it has authenticated translations we prepared. We handle the translation, Wisma Putra and the embassy for you.

Do I need a Czech translation of my degree?

Not for recognition by a Czech university if the degree and transcript are in English. Other authorities may still ask for one.

What does a Czech official translation look like?

It carries the court translator's seal and handwritten signature, and a translator's clause attached to the source document.
